"...despite the film’s sordid themes, violence, brutality, and bloodshed, one comes away from it feeling that it’s really rather a sweet and affecting story."- John J. Puccio, DVDTOWN.COM
"First-rate character study and thriller from Neil Jordan"- Ken Hanke, MOUNTAIN XPRESS (ASHEVILLE, NC)
"Hoskin's is engrossing in one of Neil Jordan's best movies."-- Dan Lybarger, NITRATE ONLINE "...Hoskins relishes the role and his relish is infectious..." - John Pym (Sight and Sound Critic)
"...High style....Vividly realized characters behaving in unexpected ways..." - Vincent Canby (New York Times Critic)
"...Rueful and funny; brutal, beautiful and lushly romantic, MONA LISA finds gallantry and real heroism among the most unlikely surroundings..." - Sheila Benson (Los Angeles Times Critic)
