Tambien fue el embajador de Marruecos en España, Omar Azzimanha, pero EL PAIS no lo dice. El acto ha contado con las actuaciones de Antonio Orozco, Raimundo Amador, Diego el Cigala, del cantante de rap Frank T y del grafitero Suso 33. Grandes entendidos en enclaves culturales. El objetivo es que el Parlamento europeo se haga eco de esta iniciativa. ¿Que iniciativa? Y añaden "desde el Sur ponemos en marcha esta experiencia pionera ante los recientes hechos sufridos en Francia, ante las situaciones de intolerancia, violencia, marginación y exclusión, que han dado lugar a un Apartheid social, educativo y político'. Al margen de las opiniones y el aprovechamiento de ágrafos y pesaditos como Sean Penn, nadie merece ser ejecutado a sangre fria. Arnold va a perder mucha audiencia. Vean lo siguiente:

Tookie is the perfect example of what it means to turn your life around, dedicating his life to diverting children from gangs and stopping gang violence. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger saw "no reason" to stop Tookie's execution.

Tookie's death strikes a blow to everyone who believes in the capacity of human beings to change, and the importance of enlisting those who have been there in the fight against gang violence. In Europe, political figures and the Vatican denounced the decision. In Schwarzenegger's Austrian hometown of Graz, Green Party leaders said they would petition to remove his name from a sports stadium and a Christian group went further suggesting the stadium be renamed "Stanley Tookie Williams Stadium."

In an interview with the New York Times, Tookie said "The longer I sit in this animalistic cage, the more human I become. I’ve learned not to allow the negative ambience to control me. I’ve risen above all of that, like a phoenix, a black phoenix."

Hoy matan a Tookie

In the spring of 1971, when Tookie was 17, he was in a very different situation. He was a high school student from South Central Los Angeles. He had a fearsome reputation as a fighter and as a "general" of South Central's west side. And, around that time, Tookie, along with Raymond Lee Washington, created what would one day be a super-gang, the Crips.

Back in the day when Tookie and Raymond founded the Crips, many of the young people of South Central Los Angeles were involved with small gangs. Those gang members roamed South Central taking property from anyone who feared them, including women and children. To protect the community, Tookie and Raymond organized the Crips.

By 1979, the Crips had grown from a small Los Angeles gang to an organization with membership spread across the State of California. By this time, Crips had also become just like the gang members they had once sought to protect themselves from -- Crips had become gangbangers who terrorized their own neighborhoods.

Soon the Crips lost both their leaders: in 1979, Raymond was murdered by a rival gang member, and, that same year, Tookie was arrested. He was charged with murdering four people. In 1981, Tookie was convicted of those crimes and placed on death row.

In 1987, Tookie began what became a 6 1/2-year stay in solitary confinement. After two years there, Tookie began to look at himself. He focused on the choices he had made in his life and then committed himself to make a drastic change. The long, difficult process he undertook to rebuild his character put him in touch with his true spirit, his own humanity. Only then could Tookie finally begin to care about the many children, mothers, fathers and other family members of this country hurt by the Crips legacy and by its explosive growth. The gang is now in 42 states and on at least one other continent: South Africa. Youngsters in Soweto and other South African cities have formed the Crips copycat gangs

Tookie greatly regrets the violent history of the Crips -- particularly how so many young black men have hurt each other -- and he wants to do what he can to stop it. The Tookie Speaks Out Against Gang Violence book series for elementary-school-age children is the first fruit of his longing to prevent young people of every color from becoming gangbangers, from ending up in prison, crippled by bullets, or killed.

Tookie is determined to make amends for having been a co-founder of the Crips. He intends to try in every way he can to guide those youngsters who have imitated him away from the road that led him to death row where he faces State execution. "Don't join a gang," he tells children in his books, writing from his San Quentin cell. "You won't find what you're looking for. All you will find is trouble, pain and sadness. I know. I did."

Manolo RECICLA nace en el 2001 cuando empieza a grabar a Manolo, un sintecho que se movia con sus carros por su barrio (La Latina). Tras 9 meses de grabaciones, la obra esta concluida y decide editar el material conseguido, aunque sigue en contacto con Manolo, a quien trato de ayudar a salir de la calle. Tras 2/3 meses sin grabar decide continuar. Esta fase dura casi dos años y en ella el deterioro de Manolo (con constantes idas y venidas al hospital) es muy intenso y le lleva a morir de cirrosis en un hospital para terminales. Tras arrojar sus cenizas al mar en el cabo de Peñas (Asturias) decide editar la versión larga de MANOLO RECICLA (El Señor de los Carros) que se estrena en España en la VI edición del festival internacional de Cine de Las Palmas (marzo 2004).

Munich según Spielberg

According to the New York Times, Steven Spielberg´s Munich feature film will look at “the tale of a secret Mossad hit squad ordered to assassinate Palestinian terrorists after the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.” Having already tackled such thought provoking material as the Holocaust in Schindler's List, and soldiers during World War II in Saving Private Ryan, this film about Israeli/Palestinian relations could be his most controversial movie yet.

The film will star Eric Bana as the lead Israeli assassin, with Daniel Craig, Geoffrey Rush and Mathieu Kassovitz. Spielbeg has said that the attack in Munich - which was done by Black September, a faction of the P.L.O.'s Fatah organization - and Israel’s subsequent response "a defining moment in the modern history of the Middle East.".

By looking at such a controversial part of Israeli history - one that brought into the spotlight the tactic known as targeted killings - Spielberg runs the risk of hurting his “stature” with Jews in the United States as well as Israel. Culled from many sources, the film has been scripted by playwright Tony Kushner (“Angels In America”), Charles Randolph (TheInterpreter) and Eric Roth (Ali). What makes this project doubly controversial are reports that some of the information for the screenplay was taken from George Jonas’ book, “Vengeance”. This book is based on an account from a supposed member of Mossad’s assassination team, but later this team member’s legitimacy was questioned by many. Spielberg has reportedly been advised from everyone to his own rabbi, to former American diplomat Dennis Russ, to even former President Bill Clinton.“Viewing Israel's response to Munich through the eyes of the men who were sent to avenge that tragedy adds a human dimension to a horrific episode that we usually think about only in political or military terms," Spielberg said. "By experiencing how the implacable resolve of these men to succeed in their mission slowly gave way to troubling doubts about what they were doing, I think we can learn something important about the tragic standoff we find ourselves in today."

Universal Pictures has already scheduled an Oscar season release for December 23rd, 2005.

A drama about the 1972 Munich Olympics where Black September Palestinian terrorists killed 11 Israeli athletes is being filmed by Steven Spielberg, who is courting controversy by concentrating on the bloody aftermath as the murders were avenged. The material is so delicate that the project, which has been filmed in Malta, is shrouded in secrecy.

For while movies like 1977's Raid on Entebbe, starring Peter Finch and Horst Buchholz, portray Israel in a heroic stance, the new picture is about the misgivings of Golda Meir, the then Israeli prime minister, as agents from Mossad tracked down the perpetrators.

The film, with Eric Bana as the lead Israeli assassin, is expected to feature the killing of the Palestinian Mohammad Hamshiri, who answered his phone in Paris to fall victim to a radio-detonated bomb under his desk, and the death of Mohammad Boudia, the director of operations for Black September, in a car bomb explosion.

The climax will show how the Israeli operatives, tired after months of undercover work, killed Ahmed Bouchike, a Moroccan waiter they mistook for a Palestinian leader. Israel has never claimed responsibility for the team, which included Ehud Barak, the future prime minister, who dressed as a woman to surprise three PLO leaders in Beirut.

There is concern in Jerusalem that such a notable Jew as Spielberg has apparently avoided using the government's archives for his research, although Dennis Ross, formerly Bill Clinton's key Middle East diplomat, consulted by the director, has alerted the Israelis to the script.

Daniel Craig, one of the British stars of the film, said that the screenplay is a less-than-flattering portrayal of Israeli tactics. "It's about how vengeance doesn't work - blood breeds blood." Craig said that Spielberg, creator of the Shoah Holocaust Foundation, was "incredibly aware" of his background "and that's why he wants to get it right".

However, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, which manages Mossad and its archives, has reportedly received no request for assistance. In addition, five retired Mossad agents, all of whom served in key intelligence posts at the time, have not been contacted.

The incident happened back in January, during a party thrown by Nolte's son. The judge in the case says the prosecution will be allowed to establish a trend of horrible parenting on Nolte's part.

A motion by attorneys for Nolte and his son argued that broader questioning was irrelevant to the case and would cause "unwarranted annoyance and embarrassment."

Nolte already crossed that bridge, vomited on it, and then set its alcohol content on fire when he was busted for the DUI which led to that ridiculous mugshot.
