R.I.P. Ossie Davis & John Vernon

 

Ossie Davis, the actor distinguished for roles dealing with racial injustice on stage, screen and in real life, has died, an aide said Friday. He was 87.

John Vernon, a stage-trained character actor who played cunning villains in film and TV and made his comedy mark as Dean Wormer in "National Lampoon's Animal House," has died. He was 72.

Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, King Arthur) will appear nude in her upcoming thriller titled The Jacket (2005). The actress has stated she is fine with exposing her breasts on the big screen, but isn't willing to do anything below the belt. "You're not going to see my [butt]. The top half is fine, but the bottom half isn't." Knightley told director John Maybury.

The Jacket co-stars Adrien Brody (The Pianist) and tells the story of a military veteran on a journey into the future, where he tries to prevent his death and the death of his loved ones. The film is slated for a March 4th, 2005 release in theatres nationwide.

El sol del membrillo. Victor Erice

Erice dice que "la pintura y el cine entran en relación". En realidad, la grandeza de esta magistral obra, gigantesca en la simplicidad, reside en la descripción terriblemente minuciosa y poética del proceso creativo. Erice es un director que logra vivir en esa sutil dificultad. Capta lo inasible, lo abstracto, lo inmanente: la perdida, la idea, la creación, etc. 

En mi gran espacio libre, encuentro en este DVD impropia del mercado español un universo en el que perderme, viendo sufrir a Antonio Lopez. Un pintor obsesivo que lucha con los detalles de lo físico. Su realismo es de una precisión exasperante. La charla con la mujer china es sublime. Una clase de perspectiva. 

El juego de las dos disciplinas es increiblemente vivo. El ojo de la cámara impone sus límites, evidenciando unas diferencias en el formato del encuadre, la profundidad de campo o el color. Este dvd se puede ver mil veces.

Passengers claim the star started behaving strangely halfway through the ten-hour British Airways journey from Los Angeles to the capital's Heathrow Airport. But they were stunned when she stripped off her clothes and tried to climb into the bed of a sleeping stranger, reports British newspaper THE MAIL ON SUNDAY.
